The University of Utah is embarking on a 10-year, $10 million commitment to becoming the nation's leader in innovation for remote and austere care. This initiative supports both intramural and extramural teams across the United States, focused on solving critical challenges in providing care in remote and challenging environments. Kicking off in 2024, the inaugural event will see nine teams funded, marking the beginning of a transformative effort to advance healthcare solutions where they are needed most.

The event is a research competition where teams propose innovative research solutions for problems faced by rural communities and military personnel in remote or isolated conditions.

The live pitch event showcases 17 University of Utah teams competing to develop groundbreaking innovations in medicine, engineering, and humanities aimed at solving critical challenges in remote and austere environments.
